I carry around a bag that I use between work and home. I use it to hold paperwork, electronics, mints, and Purell. So, I was wondering "God, is this thing a purse? Am I using a *man purse*?" I don't know.
Any other guys out there with this problem? I'm looking at you, Dom.

i was going to say no until you said you keep mints and purell in there. if you take those things out then it's your briefcase...

See, that's what I don't get. If I take out two things, then it ceases to be a purse? Do the objects inside the bag make it a purse or is it the bag itelf? Or both?
I think I just heard the sound of one hand clapping.

In this era yes, what items you carry with you say a lot about your sexual preference or just gender. Although there aren't many "manly" things to carry around with you, the alternate to that would just be geeky.
I personally wouldn't use the mints to label a person, but the Purell...yeah...fag :P
Oh, and is it a messangers bag? Again, personally...that's just a "relaxed" briefcase :) But if you're carrying some odd bag-like object...yeah that's a purse.

I used to use one of those small camelbak backpacks to carry all of my stuff into work until Christmas. For Christmas I got a messenger bag from Tumi.
The contents of my bag are as follows [In no particular order]:
Whichever book I'm currently reading,
a dayplanner,
my passport,
a voided check,
a usb flash drive,
a pocketknife/ bottle opener,
a spare set of headphones,
gum or mints,
medicine (tylenol and sudafed),
my keys,
my ipod or ipods and accessories,
a pencil and pen,
a folder for paperwork,
a couple dvd's in case I get bored at work,
some spare change,
and an umbrella.
Let me stress that the motto with which I live by is "Be Prepared." ;-)
I wear my man-purse with pride. And Adam, I prefer the term metro-sexual.

That's acceptable. It sounds like it's messy as hell and you have a good amount of technology in there.
It passes as bag-o-crap. (IE: Poor mans briefcase)

I carry my messenger bag wherever I go, usually. Whats it it is my laptop (sometimes), my PSP, my iPod, headphones, tylenol, and any papers/directions/etc I need for wherever I'm headed that day.
Anything other than a messenger bag though... that I'd have to question.
