I'm not a web person. I'm just not. I never bothered to get into the programming side of it and make awesome sites like this one that Jesse cooked up. However, I recently decided to create a new site and have settled upon WordPress (www.wordpress.org) as my prefab of choice.
Has anyone used this before and has positive or negative feedback? Of course they say it is easy and configurable but I was curious as to the amount of work it takes to truly get a site up and running and looking decent.

My website is run by wordpress... http://coalcracker.net/
I love it... you can do everything you need... make posts, upload photos, etc... through their admin console over the web. With my old "homebrewed" setups I had to log onto my server, FTP files up, modify the code on pages, or whatever else. When it's easy for you to make a post, you will post more often.
As far as the amount of work involved... if you're hosting your own site, it's just a matter of unpacking the wordpress files and going through a very brief, self-explanatory installation process. You can be up and blogging in as little as 10 minutes, assuming you've got your web server and database ready to go.
Beyond that, you can go as deeply as you want. You can snag new themes from the Wordpress site and install them in just a few seconds, or you can make your own theme with some PHP and CSS coding. There are plugins out the wazoo too, and they are easily installed... as simple as copying the folder to your "plugins" directory and then activating it via one click in the admin console.
I made my own theme and added a couple plugins (phpMyAdmin and Viper's Video Quicktags). Other than that, the only "administrative" work I've had to do was updating from WP 2.1 to 2.2, which is even easier than installing it for the first time.

I find wordpress to be the most professional of all the blogs, though I personally use blogger.com. I've been on it for about 5 years now. Not as much functionality as wordpress, but definitely easy to use, and since you don't host your own data, never have to worry about losing it.
