This is kind of late but I figured I'd get a discussion going on the World Cup. Not sure if any of you are fans but I have been enjoying this cup immensely. The Germany v Argentina game the other day has to be one of the best I've ever witnessed... and the games that followed it, including yesterday's Germany v Italy game have all been spectacular.
France and Portugal play today, the winner will face Italy in the final. Who's your pick to win it all? I've got my money on France and their long list of superstars... but you can't count out Portugal or Italy just yet, they have both played great soccer.
After the cup ends on Sunday, I know I'll be craving more soccer. This means either I have to get the primo sports packages from Comcast to catch Euro games, or I need to take up an interest in the MLS. Anybody ever go to an MLS game? I have a hard time getting into it just from seeing it on TV, but I think seeing a game could get me hooked... too bad Philly doesn't have a team...
PS -- Check out this cool photo from the post-game celebrations in Rome yesterday:

Germany vs. Argentina was a fantastic match. The game yesterday was also great. I can't believe Italy put 2 in in the last few minutes of overtime.
This has been the first time I've actually remained interested in a team spectator sport. Soccer(Football) is great to watch because of the passion the players have and the fans exhibit.
MLS just wouldn't be the same because World Cup is world-class soccer. I wouldn't want to sully my viewing experience with anything ho-hum.
Prediction for the final match, France vs. Italy.
I personally would love to see France win. Italians fall too much on the field and have been getting unfair calls all cup.
And for some reason soccer reminds me of Quidditch from Harry Potter.
WTF GET THE SNITCH FAG

Philly has an indoor football team, the Philadelphia Kixx, www.kixxonline.com. It's part of the MISL (Major Indoor Soccer League). Their season starts up again in Novemeber. Sure they're players with even less skill than the MLS, but what are you going to do.
I can't wait to watch France stomp those I-ties in the final. Zidane is the man.
PS - it's Football and American Football, no such thing as Soccer.

That headbutt was awesome! Anyone hear what was said to cause Zidane to do that? Must have been something about his mother.
