Anyone still play / want to play...

Does it still rock or is it just too old? Where do we draw the line?

I'm pretty sure you can always convince Gerard to play Diablo 2. Me on the other hand, I've swore that I would never reinstall Diablo 2 again.

fuck yea dude i played that game for a while up until like a month ago... when i logged in again to start playing but realized MY CHARACTERS GOT DELETED BECAUSE I HADN'T LOGGED IN FOR A MONTH UGHHH. really pissed me off. but now i'm playing again, but minorly sidetracked for the time being cause of lack of time and cause my laptop broke and i have 3 LOD disks but can't find the original diablo2 disk to install it into my new laptop or my desktop. i could borrow one but i don't know where my cd key is. UGH WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO? ANYONE HAVE A CD KEY THEY WANT TO GIVE ME IN EXCHANGE FOR $1.00?

I've lost 2 full copies, 1 LOD cd, and countless CD keys. Recently I found a set of keys though. I keep thinking about reinstalling but meh, I have WoW now.

I'm pretty sure I will never, ever stop playing Diablo II. Me and Roommate Jim were playing through untwinked and have pretty nice setups. We stopped playing a bit ago because we had too many other games to play but we're in Act 5 Nightmare I believe.
I'm always up for playing. Feel free to join in on our HC (hardcore) IP games anytime... I'm SKKRA on AIM. Yeah, we play em on single player now because there is NOTHING left for me on Battle.net except lag. I dont need to say it but obviously no one cheats.
Hardcore, Mr. Ryser, is the shiznit. No reason to play SC. Once you play HC you cant go back to SC. I've taken several characters of varying builds up to Level 90, yessir, without dying once. WHEEE!

No. Single player/IP = ladder. All items and runewords are available. Make sure that you obviously log onto bnet real quick to patch to the latest version.
I've played a lot of paladins in my day. A LOT. And I love them so. They are so damn balanced and you can play them in so many ways.
That said, I'm considering a Daggermancer/Poison Necro. I think that would be so challenging and I've always wanted to do it. If not that maybe a Werebear.
So right now we'll say that this Sunday, everyone is down to play so far? Can everyone be up and ready to play by 11 AM? Is that reasonable? =)

I should be good for Sunday as long as no one makes Mother's Day more than a Hallmark Holiday.
Since I'm already planning on playing a pally, I'd be down for forming a Pally Corps.
If this goes well, we could get some type of rotation started. Maybe play Diablo 2 a couple of weekends and then switch to Unreal Tournament 2004 (or something else) and so on.

I recommended 11 AM as a start time; I'm be perfectly fine with making it 9:30 or 10:00 if people can do that.
As insane as it is, I think I'm doing it. A Daggermancer. Should be fun and I'll still be lending a big hand with curses. Unless ya'll would rather me have a tank with a Werebear. What is everyone playing? Builds people, I need builds (because I'm bored and wanna read em).

Heh 11 AM == 8 AM for Tron. Pwnt! Well to make this a little more enjoyable I suggest we use Teamspeak as a means to voicechat. I know a bunch of you already have my TS info but for those of you who don't:
server: agemo.kicks-ass.org
server password: chronicles
Even if you don't have a mic it would still be good to jump on there just to listen.

No no no...
Hardcore just means when your character dies that's the end of him. Obviously since we're playing an ip game you can just res but that defeats the purpose of hc.

No, he's right Jesse... he means that before you can make a hardcore character, the game makes you beat Diablo in normal mode. Stupid rule.
Easily gotten around. I can create hardcore characters. I will make a hardcore character and post it for download. If you put it in your characters directory, you will be able to play him in single player. Just enter a game with him then leave... after that you'll be able to play hardcore characters. Ta da! I'll do that tonight.
Yes, an IP game does mean you could hack-res dead characters and all, but I fully assume we'll be playing untwinked and hack free; I'm sure that goes without saying. The possibility of resing characters who die due to a lag spike could be discussed, but I've never had a lag problem of more than 1 second playing over IP.
Also, I've decided I will be screenshotting and documenting our adventures as we see how far our ragtag band of HC characters can go. I'll post it on skkra.com once we start playing.
Does everyone know what build they'll be playing yet? I feel like this oughta be a nutty time.
So far I think its looking like...
Me: Daggermancer necro
Skippy: Shockadin pally
Tron: Enchantress or Shout Barb (?)
Vee: Some kind of Druid (?)
Ryser: Amazon or Sorc (?)
Jesse: ?
Looks like a pretty diverse group from initial ideas. So far it seems like no one will really be fighting over class-specific gear which is cool. Tron, you could always go shout/concentrate since one feeds off the other and be a total tank, if'n you wanna play a barb.
I would love to see this group be able to kill Hell Baal after a few sessions. That would be a huge success.
THIS IS GETTING ME SO PSYCHED TO PLAY! Damn it, why is this game like crack to me? More like heroin. Unless there's something more addictive than heroin. Then its like that.

Well it sucks that I died. That necro apparently doesnt fit my in-your-face playstyle, thus an Assassin will be joining you all next week.

EOD Sunday Update:
We're mostly 21-23 I believe
We have the amulet, staff, cube, and canyon WP
On a side note we should decide what we consider cheating as far as our "static" goes. Personally I think everything besides outright putting items in your save file is fine. I partake PA(power acting), and shopping (reloading town to get uber lewts).
How do we feel about items from non-static characters? I don't mind too much but it could def become overpowering.

when i used the character editor to make my amazon and join you guys, i just set the level and the needed waypoints and quests, and gave myself some cash to buy weapons and armor from town. i could have decked myself out in awesome gear, but i resisted the temptation =D

I'd rather keep the Sunday characters limited to those Sunday playsessions, without any twinked items from outside characters. But we can vote on it.
My assassin is level 18 already, so I'll definitely be ready for the next session this upcoming Sunday. I cant BELIEVE I friggin died though, regardless. Maybe its a godsend though since I wasnt horribly enjoying playing that Necromancer.
My kick-sin will be there to add some firepower now!

I'm not too upset with people editing their characters to match whatever level we're at since quite frankly I'm only ever going to be playing with you guys and if I do miss a session I don't want to grind myself up. Items on the other hand should be limited to drops within our group sessions. No outside items and absolutly no hacking to get items.

Level 26 javazon.
Poison javs + fend. And a valk probably. We'll see if I think I need her. May be more worth it to pump my passives.
No lightning fury... I've done that build enough times that I'm not doing it again.
